Senseless Vandalism Costs Contractor Thousands – Cobourg
Contractor Jeff Burton from Earthworks Excavating have been in the process of cleaning out the area by the Cobourg boat launch after it was silted in over the winter months.
On Wednesday morning he got a call from Cobourg Police.
Suspects had broken two of the windows on the excavator parked by the boat launch which is a common place for people to park.
When Burton first heard about the incident he was already on his way down to being work for the day.
But when he saw the damage he was shocked “some lowlife punks would smash the windows for fun.”
The bad news is Burton said it’s approximately $3,000 damage to replace the windows along with the downtime of the excavator.
The excavator has been taken away and new windows ordered.
The good news is, the suspects must not have realized they were on camera.
Police have seized a video of the incident that shows a vehicle pulling into the marina parking lot and two people exiting the vehicle and destroying the windows.
Cobourg Police advise anyone with information to contact police or Crimestoppers.
