Two Men Seen with Handgun in Bar – Durham Region

Two males seen with what appeared to be a handgun inside an Oshawa bar are now facing multiple charges.

On Sunday, April 1, 2018 at approximately 2:15 a.m., officers were called to area of King Street and Celina Street in central Oshawa regarding a male seen with a handgun. Officers arrived and discovered a large group of intoxicated persons involved in a fight near King Street East and Albert Street. The male who had been seen with the handgun was located by officers and arrested. An imitation firearm (air pistol) was located nearby. This male became combative with officers during the arrest and a second male tried to intervene and assist him during the arrest.

Further investigation revealed both males had the weapon inside the General Pub & Grill on Celina Street earlier and were showing the weapon off to patrons.

John BURLTON, age 21 of Fernhill Boulevard in Oshawa has been charged with: Possession of Weapons Dangerous; Point Firearm; and Assault Police.

Ian MACKENZIE, age 18 of Caroline Street East in Clarington has been charged with: Carry Concealed Weapon; and Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace.
