Weekly Report – Northumberland OPP
Feb 20:
- An officer on general patrol observed a Ford Econoline van being driven at a high rate of speed southbound on County Rd 25 in Cramahe Twp at approximately 1:00pm in dense fog. The van was stopped and the 32 year old Peterborough man was found to be prohibited from driving as per a court order. He was charged accordingly and the van was impounded for a 45 day period.
- Just before 12:00 noon an officer stopped a 2001 silver Toyota Corolla on Doxsee Ave South in Campbellford resulting in the 37 year Seymour Twp driver being charged with Drive motor vehicle – no licence, Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner, Use plate not authorized for vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act as well as Operate a motor vehicle without insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. The car was towed from the scene and she faces an impending court date in April 2018.
- A gas station on Bridge St South in Hastings reported that a female driving a silver SUV failed to pay for $47.68 worth of fuel at 1:45pm. The vehicle was last seen travelling northbound tow ards the Norwood area. Investigation ongoing.*
- Feb 21:
- At approximately 12:00 noon an officer was patrolling northbound on County Rd 45 in Alnwick-Haldimand Twp when he observed a southbound grey Ford SUV in the process of passing two other vehicles in dense fog. That vehicle’s actions caused the officer to brake heavily to avoid a head on collision. The driver, an 84 year old Roseneath area man, was charged with Pass-Roadway Not Clear-Approaching Traffic contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
- A Brighton resident contacted police when he noticed his money being withdrawn from his bank account. After investigation it was determined that the funds were being accessed by his ex-partner from a mutual account. He was advised to seek legal advice regarding his separation and finan cial affairs.
- A Hamilton Twp resident reported her medications missing after moving from her home to avoid flooding in the area.
- Feb 22:
- Police were called to a Brighton residence at 2:26am when an occupant reported hearing voices in the basement. Officers checked the premises and found no one other than the caller in the house which showed no signs of forced entry. Alcohol was suspected to be a contributing factor to the complaint.
- Police responded to a report of two males flagging down motorists in Port Hope at the Toronto Rd off ramp from Hwy 401 and asking for money claiming they have run out of gas. Officers were unable to locate the males (described as possibly East Indian in their 30’s) or their vehicle. The caller a dvised police that this has been occurring for several days and suspected it was a scam. (At time of this media release police received another similar report on County Rd 65, the males had left the area when officers arrived).*
- At approximately 9:30pm police responded to a report of a green Buick in the ditch on County Rd 30 near the hamlet of Orland. Officers spoke to the uninjured driver who showed signs of being impaired. Hunter ALLISON age 19 of Wooler, Ontario was arrested and charged with Impaired Care & Control of a motor vehicle and Care & Control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg March 21, 2018.

- Northumberland OPP officers investigated six accidental 911 calls, eleven motor vehicle collisions, 38 traffic related complaints and conducted four RIDE programs during this time period.
