Cobourg Council – Police Week Is a Time to Celebrate

Police Week is May 14 to 20, Councillor Adam Bureau said at this week’s Cobourg council meeting, and the local service has its own successes to report.

Bureau noted that the Cobourg Police Service is following up well on input received at the April 4 open session at the Cobourg Lions’ Centre, where Chief Paul VandeGraaf listened to members of the public share their concerns.

“They heard loud and clear residents and business owners wanted more police presence,” Bureau said, as a result of which they have come up with a proactive Downtown Action Plan
Foot patrols are increasing visibility and community engagement efforts downtown, he said, and the response has been positive.

He added that their outreach service to educate members of the public on such issues as scam and fraud and personal safety continues with presentations to community groups. You can book one by contacting the police station.
