Support Community Care with Easter Cookies

By Cecilia Nasmith/Today’s Northumberland
In honour of Nutrition Month and March For Meals (not to mention Easter just around the corner), Community Care Northumberland is once again selling Easter-themed cookies in support of its Meals On Wheels program.

Each box contains five individually wrapped beautifully decorated Easter cookies from Roda’s Kitchen, selling for $20 to support the delivery of nutritious frozen and hot meals to members of the community who otherwise might have had difficulty shopping and cooking for themselves. From each box sold, $9 will support this vital program that delivers more than 3,000 meals a month to Northumberland residents.

This year marks the 26th annual March For Meals campaign aimed at raising awareness of the importance of Meals On Wheels. It will include a Community Champions event in communities that are served, in which local mayors, councillors and people of note will take a delivery shift.

“The cookie fundraiser and March For Meals help to further support the nutrition needs of our clients and community members, and raise awareness about this important program,” CCN Chief Executive Officer Trish Baird said in the announcement.

Cookie orders are now being taken until March 30, and can be picked up April 5 and 6 at Community Care offices in Cobourg, Campbellford and Brighton.
