Northumberland County Council – EOWC Sets This Year’s Priorities

Northumberland County Warden Bob Crate reported to county council’s March meeting that the March 11 Eastern Ontario Warden’s Caucus not only handled some important business, but was also the first one he had attended in person – having been elected warden in December 2020.

“They were pleased to host an in-person meeting, graciously hosted by our friends in Lennox and Addington County,” Crate said.

The main business of the meeting was to establish the group’s priorities for this year, chief among them health care and family physicians, Ontario Health Team governance standards, and affordable and attainable housing.

Other topics generating significant concern included economic recovery, long-term-care funding, infrastructure investment, hospital capital funding, establishing film and television initiatives, public health downloading costs, rural education equity, waste management and blue box initiatives, insurance affordability and joint-and-several liability, work force enhancement, immigration and climate change.

Crate is looking forward to another in-person EOWC meeting, slated for May 13 in Renfrew County.
