The Campbellford Rebels rallied from a two-goal deficit in the third period before defeating the Port Hope Panthers in overtime Tuesday night to even their first-round Provincial Junior Hockey League playoff series at one game apiece.

Adam Klass scored just 44 seconds into the extra frame to give the Rebels the 4-3 victory at the Campbellford-Seymour Community Centre.

A night earlier, the Panthers won the series opener 3-2 in overtime at home in Port Hope.

In Game 2, the Panthers took a 2-0 advantage out of the first period Tuesday on goals by Ethan Shore and Oz Paziuk, who tallied a power-play marker.

Brock Kelsh cut the deficit to one for the Rebels with the lone goal of the middle frame.

Early in the third, Jake Desallier restored the two-goal lead for the Panthers. Colby Turcott answered back for the Rebels soon after and teammate Jacob McPhee tied the game with just under six minutes left in regulation time leading up to the eventual OT winner.

The series returns to Campbellford for Game 3 on Friday. Game time is 8:30 p.m.
