Dryden Minifie scored twice, including the overtime winner, to lift the Campbellford Rebels to a 3-2 win over the visiting Frankford Huskies in Provincial Junior Hockey League action Saturday night.

Minifie promptly snapped the tie in overtime as he scored 32 seconds into that extra frame with a goal assisted by Andrew Moran. The 19-year-old tallied his first goal at 16:03 of the third period to put the Rebels in front 2-1 before Dylan Foster answered back just under two minutes later for the Huskies, which trailed twice in the contest. Kurt Gibbs and Tyler Sawkins assisted on Foster’s goal.

Josh Sainthill, with his fourth goal of the season, opened the scoring for Campbellford on a power play 4:43 into the first period. Rhett Cleverdon and Ben Krauja earned assists on the play.

Sawkins, assisted by Carter Musclow, tied the game 1-1 with his goal just 47 seconds into the second period.

Frankford outshot Campbellford 34-29, but Rebels goaltender Cameron Hansen earned first-star recognition after making 32 saves to record his first victory.

The Rebels improved to 3-4-0-0 with the win while the expansion Huskies (0-6-1-0) earned their first point with the overtime loss.

In other action Saturday night, the Port Hope Panthers were shutout 3-0 by the undefeated Napanee Raiders.

The Panthers held a 30-24 shots advantage, but couldn’t solve Raiders netminder Mitchell Brown. Napanee (8-0-0-0) scored twice in the second period and added another goal late in the third.

The Panthers are now 2-4-1-0 through seven games and head to Frankford on Monday for a 7:50 p.m. match-up against the Huskies.
