Picton Pirates Double Up on Port Hope Panthers 4-2

Two unanswered goals in the third period lifted the visiting Picton Pirates to a 4-2 win over the Port Hope Panthers in Provincial Junior Hockey League action Saturday night at the Jack Burger Sports Complex.
Noah Brant and Landon McLellan scored twice for the Pirates, including a goal each in the first and third periods. Brant opened the scoring just over five minutes into the game and McLellan tallied his first to put the Pirates up 2-0 at the 12:24 mark of the first.
Port Hope responded to even the score at two before the midway mark of the second period. Logan Kelly got the Panthers on the board 3:32 into the middle frame before Will Perley-Fry tied it up at the 9:26 mark.
Brant scored Picton’s second go-ahead goal of the game 12:12 into the third period and McLellan added an insurance marker – his team-leading sixth goal of the season – at 18:31.
With the win, the Pirates improved to 3-0-0-0 and will host the PJHL Tod Division’s other undefeated team the Napanee Raiders (3-0-0-0) on Thursday night in Picton.
Port Hope (0-2-0-0) will head to Napanee on Friday evening before returning home next Saturday, Oct. 16 for a match-up against the Frankford Huskies (0-4-0-0). Game time is 7:30 p.m. at the Jack Burger Sports Complex.
