Among the community events coming back as the COVID-19 pandemic begins to recede is the Cobourg Police Service bike rodeo.

Councillor Aaron Burchat made the announcement at this week’s Cobourg council meeting, saying it would take place Aug. 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Canadian Tire (1125 Elgin St. W.).

“Bring your bikes, helmets and masks to learn bike safety,” Burchat said.

“And we thank Canadian Tire for allowing us the space.”

The Cobourg Police Service also invite you to take place in a community-consultation survey on their website to help them gather input as they work on their Strategic Plan. By participating, you have a chance to win a $150 gift card to a local restaurant.

Burchat’s report also included the latest statistics from the town’s building department.

June saw 25 building permits issued (including permits for 11 new dwelling units), representing a construction value of more than $4-million.

And in the first half of 2021, he continued, 229 building permits have been issued (including permits for 32 new dwelling units), with an estimated construction value of almost $16-million. Revenues from these permits has brought the town more than $262,000.
