Breaking News – Two People Charged in Murder of Trent Hills Man

(TRENT HILLS, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has now charged two people in connection with a death in Trent Hills.

On Saturday, March 27, 2021, at approximately 7:19 p.m., members of the Northumberland Detachment of the OPP responded to an incident at a residence in Trent Hills where the home owner John WESLEY was located in an unresponsive state. Mr. WESLEY was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dece ased. As a result of the investigation the death was considered as suspicious.  

On Tuesday, April 13, 2021,at approximately 10:08 a.m., members of the OPP Tactics and  Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team and the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, arrested and charged two individuals in connection with the death.  

Chad EVERETT, age 41 of Trent Hills, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

Second Degree Murder, contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.

Failing to comply with his probation order, contrary to Section 733.1 of the Criminal Code.

Failing to comply with conditions of a previous release order, contrary to Section 145 (5)(a) of the Criminal Code.

Nancy GULLAGE, age 41 of Trent Hills, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.

Both accused individuals appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 and were remanded into custody.
