MPP David Piccini Issues Letter To The Editor on Recovery Phase

In Editorial

We recognize the toll this outbreak is taking on business owners and workers. Ontario businesses are top of mind during this unprecedented time and we know that the only way to ensure the health of our businesses and our economy is to ensure the health of all Ontarians.

Ontario’s Action Plan: Responding to COVID-19 outlined the first steps in our government’s immediate response to the current crisis. It included additional healthcare resources and provided support for people and jobs to provide immediate relief. Our primary focus remains on the immediate healthcare response to the global pandemic, as well as providing urgent relief to people and employers. We’re confident in our healthcare professionals, and by following their advice and ensuring they have the resources to do their jobs, we know that Ontario will emerge from the current crisis.

We need to start planning for the recovery phase, which will begin as soon as soon as the outbreak is contained. To begin this work, Premier Ford has convened the new Ontario Jobs and Recovery Committee. This new committee will be developing a plan to stimulate economic growth and job-creation in the weeks and months ahead, focusing on getting businesses up and running and people back to work after the pandemic is over. This team will work together to design the next steps in Ontario’s Action Plan, with a focus on supporting workers, families and businesses in the medium term, and economic growth and job-creation in the long-term.

We are focused on this important task every day to ensure our economy emerges stronger, more dynamic, and continues to lead the nation. The feedback we receive is critical to this process. I want to remind you to please share any suggestions or ideas with my office that you think the government should implement to help support your business.

By starting this work early, acting decisively, and working with our partners in other levels of government and the private sector, our province will recover.

My office can be reached by phone at 905-372-4000, by email at david.piccinico@pc.ola.org or by contacting us through my website at www.davidpiccinimpp.ca. We are also regularly updating our www.covidsupports.ca website with the latest on provincial and federal supports available to individuals and businesses.
